Photographs from the 15th and 16th Memorial Illuminations Though bad weather caused the Illumination to be postponed one week in the 15th year, there were still plenty of volunteers available to place the candles in the fields. Though very cold, many people drove through the battlefield to see the annual display of luminaries. In 2004 (the 16th year) it was one of those very dark, moonless nights.
